Kāpili Services is looking for a qualified Junor Nurse Analyst is to provide evidence-based process improvement (PI) of trauma and combat casualty care, to drive morbidity and mortality to the lowest possible levels, and to provide evidence-based recommendations on casualty care and trauma systems across the Department of Defense (DoD). In correlation to provide support to the Joint Trauma System (JTS) and the Department Health Agency (DHA). Job location and support is needed out of Fort Sam, Houston, TX. However, there is a possiblity for remote work from other states within the U.S.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- The Nurse Analyst/Abstractor support shall be performed by a BSN-prepared registered nurse, with an active nursing license in one of the fifty states and experience in caring for trauma patients in the emergency department, intensive care unit, or in a deployed environment.
- The Nurse Analyst/Abstractor will review source data from handwritten medical records as well as electronic sources such as Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA), Critical Care Air Transport Team (CCATT) records, ESSENTRIS, Genesis, IMPAX, Joint Legacy Viewer (JLV), Patient Movement Records (PMR), Tactical Combat Casualty Cards (TC3), Theater Data Medical Store (TMDS), Web Interface Scanned Patient Records (WISPR) and other source data as provided by the Government and enter the same information into the Department of Defense Trauma Registry (DoDTR) and/or the integrated clinical modules of the DoDTR in accordance with government-provided business rules.
- Will keep patient records with a range from simple single-site documentation to extremely complex multi facility documents with multiple transport records.
- Provided government-furnished equipment (GFE) and remote access to government systems and applications if working off-site.
- Provide high-speed internet access and a dedicated phone line for off-site work.
- Will be expected to do basic computer troubleshooting.
- Shall maintain documentation on GFE.
- Will collect comprehensive, accurate data relating to trauma patients by abstracting all trajectories of care.
- Will verify and update all information compiled, and enter data into the application in a timely manner.
- Shall code injuries, procedures, and causes of injuries using standard medical record references, specifically International Classification of Diseases (ICD), Ninth and Tenth Revision (9/10) codes, assign diagnoses Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) and ICD-9/10-CM (Clinical Modification) codes, ICD-10-PCS and CPT codes, and complete Injury Severity Scale (ISS) and other calculations for an average of one hundred eighty (180) levels of trauma care per week or three hundred sixty (360) orthopedic procedures per week or 120 Infectious disease records per week with at least 90% average accuracy. AQL: An average of one hundred eighty (180) levels of care per week or three hundred sixty (360) orthopedic procedures per week or 120 Infectious disease records completed with at least 90% average accuracy IAW the government provides business rules.
- Monitoring Method: Periodic inspection, review of Quality Assurance individual and aggregate reports, Joint Trauma System Manager (JTSM) reports.
DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) prepared registered nurse, with an active unrestricted nursing license in one of the fifty states and experience in caring for trauma patients in the emergency department, intensive care unit, or in a deployed environment.
CITIZENSHIP/SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Must pass an investigation/background check.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
